Häuser Timber Frame’s flagship project in Halifax, Calderdale, exemplifies our ability to blend heritage preservation with modern building compliance. This was the first project in which Häuser delivered its popular Option C timber frame system following the introduction of the latest Part L regulations.

Option C is Häuser’s premium closed-panel timber frame system, designed to deliver high thermal performance and airtightness straight from the factory. It includes fully insulated wall panels, integrated vapour control layers, pre-installed battens for service voids, and is engineered to meet or exceed current energy-efficiency requirements. By arriving to site as a near-complete building envelope, Option C reduces installation time, improves quality control, and ensures consistent compliance with Part L.

The conversion of a listed barn into a 4,000-sq ft residential property required careful planning due to its historical significance. Häuser provided a modern, regulation-compliant timber frame solution that allowed the original stonework to remain intact, preserving the building’s character while upgrading its performance.

A fully insulated closed-panel timber frame was installed, including battening for the internal service void. This system ensured exceptional energy efficiency in line with the most recent Part L standards.

To support the mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system and enhance indoor air quality, Häuser supplied metal web joists, allowing for easy accommodation of ducting without compromising structural integrity.

Adding to the aesthetic authenticity of the barn, bespoke oak feature trusses were incorporated to echo the building’s agricultural origins, bringing warmth and visual impact to the internal spaces.

Working closely with the client on this self-build project, Häuser helped transform a historic agricultural structure into a stunning contemporary home. The result is a property that seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge building technology—delivering heritage charm alongside exemplary compliance, comfort, and energy performance.
