Projects
Our private client approached us via a local builders’ merchant with a clear vision: to create a two-bedroom lodge on their land that could be operated as a high-quality Airbnb-style holiday let. The brief called for a build that was efficient, comfortable, and visually in keeping with its rural surroundings.
After reviewing the options, the client selected Häuser timber frame – Option C, which offered the ideal balance of speed, performance, and design flexibility for a rental property.
Known as Woodside Cottage, the lodge is located in Northallerton and sits within a beautiful landscape. Working closely to the architect’s brief, we incorporated a roof overhang in our Timber Frame Design to create a generous canopy. This design feature forms a covered outdoor area, perfect for relaxing, sitting out, or enjoying alfresco dining while taking in the surrounding views.
Using a timber frame system allowed for:
- Rapid construction, reducing time on site
- Excellent energy efficiency, ideal for short-term lets
- A warm, comfortable internal environment for guests year-round
The finished lodge delivers a welcoming, modern retreat that is both practical and visually appealing, exactly what’s needed for a successful holiday rental.
This was a project we thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a great example of how timber frame construction is an effective solution for smaller, high-quality spaces, whether for:
- Holiday rentals and Airbnbs
- Annexes
- Home gyms
- Work-from-home offices
Woodside Cottage stands as a testament to how thoughtful design and the right build system can turn a simple idea into a profitable and beautiful retreat.
