A development of eight new homes in Teversal, began on site in December 2025. Despite challenging winter conditions and heavy snowfall at the start of the year, progress never stalled. By January, two homes were fully completed, with site programming kept firmly on track.
This was made possible by the use of Häuser timber frame, which proved its value in demanding conditions.
Why Timber Frame Over Masonry in Winter
Even in snow, timber frame construction offers clear advantages over traditional masonry:
- Dry construction – panels are manufactured off-site, avoiding weather delays
- Rapid erection – homes can be made watertight in days, not weeks
No reliance on curing – unlike brickwork, timber frames aren’t affected by freezing temperatures
- Improved programme certainty – reduced risk of weather-related downtime
Under these conditions, a masonry build would have faced significant delays. Timber frame ensured momentum was maintained despite the bleak Nottinghamshire weather.
The builder selected Häuser Option C, a high-performance closed-panel timber frame system designed for modern, energy-efficient housing. Option C includes:
- Factory-fitted high levels of insulation within walls
- Excellent airtightness performance, reducing heat loss and energy demand
- Low U-values that comfortably exceed Part L Building Regulations
